Speed & Load Control | Emergency Trip Protection | Condition Monitoring | Turbine Island Coordination

Integrated Steam Turbine Control, Protection & Monitoring System

A coordinated control solution for turbine speed and load regulation, emergency trip protection, mechanical-condition monitoring and turbine-island process control.

Customized for new steam turbine generator sets, complete turbine islands and eligible control-system retrofit projects.

Four Coordinated Systems, Clearly Defined Responsibilities

Digital Electro-Hydraulic Control (DEH)

Controls turbine speed, generator load, inlet pressure, extraction pressure and back pressure during normal operation.

Emergency Trip System

(ETS)

Detects confirmed hazardous conditions and initiates rapid turbine shutdown through the approved trip logic.

Turbine Supervisory Instrumentation (TSI)

Continuously monitors vibration, axial displacement, speed, eccentricity, expansion and other mechanical conditions.

Turbine Island DCS

05-turbine-island-DCS.png

Coordinates turbine auxiliaries, process systems, alarms, sequences and plant-level operating information.

How DEH, ETS, TSI and DCS Work Together

Each subsystem performs a different role. Together, they support stable turbine operation, rapid protection response, continuous condition monitoring and coordinated plant control.

DEH regulates the turbine during normal operation.

TSI monitors critical mechanical conditions.

ETS executes the approved emergency shutdown logic.

The turbine island DCS coordinates auxiliary equipment, operating sequences and plant-level information exchange.

Critical trip signals and final trip outputs may be hardwired or independently configured according to the approved protection philosophy. DCS communication does not replace the turbine emergency trip system.
