Project Background
The original back-pressure turbine generator set had an installed capacity of 12 MW. As the customer expanded production, additional power capacity was required. At the same time, the existing unit was operating with low internal efficiency and high specific steam consumption, resulting in significant energy losses.
To address both capacity and efficiency requirements, the project called for replacing the original unit with a new 20 MW high-efficiency steam turbine generator set. The upgrade was designed not only to increase output, but also to reduce steam consumption and improve overall energy utilization.

YTS Turnkey Solution
To address these challenges, YTS supplied a new high-efficiency 20 MW back-pressure steam turbine generator set to replace the original unit. The upgrade was designed to achieve two key objectives: increasing power generation capacity and improving overall steam utilization efficiency.
The new steam turbine, model B20-8.83/1.08/535, adopts a highly efficient multi-stage configuration. Both the steam turbine and generator are rated at 20 MW, with a 10% overload capability.
To optimize the customer’s investment, YTS also reused and upgraded parts of the existing turbine island. The project scope included:
  • Engineering and supply of the new turbine generator set
  • Reinforcement and modification of the existing foundation
  • Upgrading and reuse of suitable turbine-island facilities
  • Integration of selected auxiliary equipment
  • Installation, commissioning and performance testing
Performance Acceptance Results
During the final performance assessment, the unit achieved a specific steam consumption of 7.481 kg/kWh, meeting the agreed technical requirements and delivering the expected energy-efficiency benefits.
YTS completed all contractual responsibilities—from equipment manufacturing and delivery to foundation reinforcement, installation and commissioning—in accordance with the project schedule and technical standards. The overall execution and final performance were highly recognized by the customer.
The successful completion of this project adds another benchmark reference to YTS’s turnkey project portfolio and strengthens the company’s position in the industrial energy market in Henan Province.
